Coming from the positiion I have as a follower of Jesus Christ, it confirmed to me that mankind will never be able to set up the perfect kingdom on earth simply by his own efforts. The human heart, which is essentially self-centered can only be made perfect by admitting it is flawed from the beginning and can only live in peace with other human beings by admitting their need of the "Prince of Peace" who gave us the privilige of life in the first place.

Nancy Blakeslee
Georgetown, TXAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3951825921556964947.post-80203511306240665712009-09-07T19:29:35.033-07:002009-09-07T19:29:35.033-07:00One correction re: Iran. Their oil reserves are their means of income as they export most of what they pump and they are using nuclear techology to produce 'clean' energy. Everybody knows that if Iran uses its nuclear techology to attack its neighbors, the U.S. will make the entire county a glass parking lot.
Where's your outrage regarding Israel as a threat by having nukes and using depleated uranium (which is radioactive) or phosphorous weapons whenever they want to retailiate against their neighbors?
Iran is a sovereign nation and as such should be free to develop any energy production it wishes. You can't have it both ways: Israel gets nukes, but none of its neighbors is allowed to.Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01002112025971944898noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3951825921556964947.post-90189165118331562862009-04-04T15:03:00.000-07:002009-04-04T15:03:00.000-07:00Carlos --Thank you for the kind words. I'm glad you enjoyed my small essay.
As you may already know, I am battling leukemia, and I just got out of the hospital after contracting pnuemonia. I got back home earlier this week, and so far so good, it looks like I beat the virus.
What a nice surprise to find you intelligent and generous comment.
Best wishes,
Roger G.Roger W. We often fear that our country's demise will follow Rome's own withering away, as you have described it here.

And as you have described it, is more a more fearsome concern now, recognizing that successful and middle-class Romans lost the conviction to continue building and protecting their magnificent land. This is the road America is on today if the Left has their way. Fortunately, we still have a committed military, but an uncommitted citizenry.

Your parallels throughout are stunning.

Congratulations on this fine work.Maggie Thorntonhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01681328690482778919noreply@blogger.com
